Greenhouses are an efficient and inexpensive way to growing cannabis<\/strong>. They harness the power of the sun, provide a warm climate and protect gardens from harsh environmental conditions.They also allow for year-round cultivation, climate control and sunlight exposure. In addition, they are less expensive than indoor growing and produce a more consistent product than outdoor growing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How does a greenhouse work?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Solar radiation (energy from the sun) passes through the transparent walls of a greenhouse and warms the soil and plants, allowing the greenhouse to stay warm even when the outside air temperature is cold. In addition, the soil and plants release energy in the form of infrared radiation, which cannot escape from the greenhouse, so that the trapped heat warms the air.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When you get into your car on a hot day, parked in the sun, you see the greenhouse effect that opens the door to a longer season for growing marijuana. However, sunlight is needed in addition to the heat provided by the greenhouse. <\/p>\n\n\n

Growers compensate for this by using artificial light, but these are usually large-scale commercial greenhouses. Cannabis is usually planted outdoors between April and July, when the sun is present most of the day. This keeps the plants in the vegetative phase. When the cannabis starts to receive 12 hours of light or less, it starts to produce flowers<\/strong>. This happens outdoors in late summer when the days start to get shorter. Advanced greenhouses can allow you to grow throughout the year by controlling the light. They can provide extra light when it is too dark outside and they can block out any incoming light if it is too bright outside.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Controlling the climate of your greenhouse is essential to producing a quality product<\/strong>. Some greenhouses have windows or panels that can be opened or removed to allow wind circulation and cooling of plants, or to retain heat. Greenhouses can also be used to cover plants, as heavy rainfall will damage and rot them if too much moisture is trapped in the flowers. Some can also be equipped with dehumidifiers, heaters, air conditioners and fans, which also help to regulate the climate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/strong>A common practice among greenhouse growers is to set up plant cycles called light deps (short for light deprivation – during the summer season). By reducing the amount of light a marijuana plant receives before the end of the season, you can get it to flower earlier<\/strong>. This will allow you to get an early harvest, which is essential if you live in a climate that gets cold and wet in early autumn – you’ll want to harvest before the rain sets in and makes your buds go mouldy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you want to continue growing marijuana through the fall and winter, you’ll need to rely more heavily on supplemental lighting and heaters. Light and energy will still help the greenhouse to be heated, but supplemental lighting will be needed to extend the daylight hours to produce a quality product.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Energy conservation<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n


<\/strong>The ability to control light and maintain a stable climate makes it possible to grow throughout the year (depends on location), just like indoor growing. But growing outdoors and in a greenhouse is much cheaper than growing indoors, and you will save a lot of money on electricity costs. Even if you have to supplement the lighting in a greenhouse<\/a>, it will still be cheaper than the energy needed to power an indoor crop.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
